Hotel the Mitsui Kyoto

I had a wonderful stay at HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO. The room was spacious and elegantly designed, offering both comfort and luxury. The architecture is stunning, and the peaceful atmosphere creates a relaxing retreat in the heart of Kyoto. The location near Nijo Castle is convenient and quiet. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, especially kind to elderly guests, which I truly appreciated. I was pleasantly surprised to meet a receptionist from Taiwan, just like me — it made my stay feel even warmer and more personal. Although I didn’t use the spa, I enjoyed shopping at the spa area in the basement, which offered many beautiful and high quality items. I especially loved the pajamas provided by the hotel,they were so comfortable that I decided to purchase a set to take home. The breakfast was excellent, with a delicious selection of Japanese and Western dishes. Overall, this hotel combines luxury, warmth, and thoughtful service, making it a perfect choice for anyone visiting Kyoto.

A fantastic stay from start to finish! The beautiful experience offered by this hotel makes this property a must visit for those spending time in Japan. We celebrated my birthday at this gorgeous property and were treated to a beautiful view of Nijo Castle and the nearby mountains framing Kyoto. The welcome tea and wagashi were a wonderful introduction to Kyoto’s tea culture. Our onsite onsen visits were near perfect but for an odd experience with a staff member who asked why we wore masks despite her standing next to another staff member who was wearing a mask when we checked in to the onsen. Trying to explain being immunocompromised with a language barrier was challenging, to say the least. Barring this sour note, Hotel the Mitsui was an incredible Kyoto home base.

We had one of the best dining experiences at your restaurant, where the service was truly exceptional from start to finish. Every detail was handled with care and precision, creating a smooth and enjoyable evening for everyone. The food was absolutely outstanding — beautifully presented, rich in flavor, and perfectly suited to the occasion. We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to Ms. Sakura Watanabe and Ms. Moeka Terasawa for their remarkable dedication and warm hospitality during our big dinner event in the private room Shiki-no-ma. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine kindness elevated the entire experience and made the evening truly memorable. Thanks to their efforts, everything went perfectly.
