Suiran, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Kyoto

The level of excellence you would expect from a luxury hotel. The staff were friendly and accommodating, always going the extra step to ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible. My wife and I visited on our honeymoon, and I would like to give a special “Thank You” to Naoto (aka “Now”) for ensuring our honeymoon was extra special. The location is unbeatable. The grounds of the hotel are lovely and unique—giving the feel that you are truly immersed in the timeless city. The Suiran blends the best of Japanese and Western hospitality, making for an unforgettable stay. Our room was spacious, clean, quiet, and comfortable. I enjoyed utilizing the ensuite onsen daily to relax and unwind. My wife noted her massage at the spa was delightful, and would highly recommend. Lastly, do not miss a chance to enjoy a sunset with champagne along the river.

My experience at this hotel was incredible. There is absolutely no noise pollution at all, it is very silent and serene. The grounds are well maintained, the restaurants were great (especially the fried chicken), and the staff is really attentive. The location is interesting because it is the closest hotel to the bamboo forest, monkey park, and surrounding parks. To get to downtown Kyoto you take the Randen tram and then a train, which takes 42 minutes total including the walk. We spent most of our time enjoying Arashiyama and the activities that were close by. I highly recommend this hotel

This place is simply excellent. The staff are all incredibly personable as well as professional and they excel at their jobs. We felt welcomed from the moment we arrived and they took care of us and went above and beyond. I wanted to give a special commendation to Sota who gave us a mini sake lesson at the complimentary champagne hour as well as Naota who we had a great conversation with to the point that we were worried we were keeping him from his duties. Yoshi the wine expert at dinner was also just incredibly friendly and interesting to talk with and we both felt privileged to have such great staff. I would also like to give my most sincere compliments to the chef at dinner. I have had steak and meat in many different restaurants(A5 Wagyu in Japan included) and it is not an exagertion to say that the strip of steak in the coursed dinner was the single best piece of meat I have ever had. Seriously. So. Good.
