The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto

Fantastic find. Great location on the river. Very quiet and 'authentic' feeling for Japan. The breakfasts were amazing. The French toast may be the best ever and the Japanese breakfast was very well done. Staff is very helpful and accommodating. The rooms are very nice, not particularly big but comfortable. I just wished they sold the pajamas they gave out, my wife would have probably paid twice what they were worth. The bar had some unique drinks and was a great place to wind down after a day of seeing the local temples and other sites.

The location along the Kamo River is stunning, peaceful yet close to everything you want to explore in Kyoto. Our Garden Suite was beautifully designed with refined Japanese details and a walk-out terrace — serene, elegant, and incredibly relaxing. The walkability was perfect; we loved strolling to nearby restaurants and cafés along the river every evening. The Japanese breakfast was exquisite, and every dining experience was truly five-star.
