Tor founded LuxuryHotels.best with a single editorial commitment — that a hotel guide should sound like a friend with very good taste, not a marketing brochure. Every hotel that appears on the site is cross-referenced across five independent review platforms — Google, Booking.com, Tripadvisor, Agoda and Hotels.com — and the editorial team reads first-hand traveler accounts on Reddit, Instagram and TikTok before a property is included. Fake and incentivised reviews are screened out aggressively.

Before starting the site, Tor spent fifteen years covering hospitality, design, and travel for European publications — work that took him through most of the historic grand hotels of Paris, London, and Rome, the design-led smaller properties of Scandinavia, and the over-water resorts of the Indian Ocean and South Pacific.

The editorial standard is straightforward: no paid placements, no sponsored reviews, and a willingness to write honestly about what could be better. Affiliate commissions fund the site but never influence which hotels appear here.
