Just completed a stay at the Conrad in the Westminster area of London. Found and booked based off of other reviews from here. My husband and I were blown away in a positive way.
Diamond member, arrived to check in early about 1pm(were perfectly comfortable with checking our bags at the front so we could go explore the city) but the staff member (Alex from Munich) was able to provide us with a room that was both an upgrade and was already ready. He was very thorough with the check in process and we were also offered sparkling wine during check in.
The location is absolutely perfect. Walking distance from Westminster Palace and Abbey in one direction, Buckingham Palace, and the government buildings in the other. Stone's throw away from the underground station, one the line that will take you to the most popular sights in the City. We also would walk to areas like Piccadilly Circus from the hotel with no problem.
The staff was extremely attentive. My husband's bag did not make it onto his connecting flight, and we asked often (the airline misguided us when the bag would be delivered) and the staff was very understanding and were very quick to deliver his bag to our room when they finally received it. We did not expect to get it until after 11pm on our second day, but it was in our room with a 6 piece fancy chocolate set by 4pm that afternoon.
The King Deluxe Room was spacious (for London standards) and the bathroom was divine! Beautiful decor and loved the tub to soak after a long day of walking
Diamond breakfast was wonderful. Were there on Valentines day and they were handing out free mimosas with breakfast. The buffet was always well stocked with a great balance between consistency and variation between items day to day. We tried the 3 egg omelette and pancakes off the included al a carte menu, both were good. The pancakes were a favorite of mine as they were not as sickly sweet as American pancakes. I always started my morning with a croissant, cappuccino, and those little smoothies, delectable.
The executive lounge was spacious and was great to pop in to grab a bottle of water, soda, or a coffee. Since we were so close to everything, it was super convenient to come and grab and go those items from the lounge. We made it for evening appetizers a few times, and everything we had was great. A good selection of beers and wine and a couple of liquors, but we stayed with the beer and wine. My husband loves English cheese so he was in heaven. One hot and one cold appetizer alongside cheese and charcuterie is usually on offer during the evening reception time, and food was replenished rapidly as we never saw it empty nor rushing for food while we were there
We also made to the attached Blue Boar Pub for some drinks one night before dinner. Staff was very attentive even with a full house to help recommend local beers for us to try.
If you are in London for sightseeing, this is the place to stay. We paid cash for the rate but we still found it reasonable, especially with all of the amentities offered.
We do not get to travel out of the country often, but when we have the opportunity to come to London, this will hands down be our choice of stay.
