JW Marriott Essex House New York

We were more than happy with our stay... We were more than happy with our stay at the Essex house in Central Park. The lady that helped us out was very friendly and very accommodating. I think her name was Amanda if I'm not mistaken. Overall it was a beautiful and comfortable stay. Very clean with amazing views. Amanda got us situated quickly and accommodated for correctly, through the small bumps in the road that we did have in our stay. thanks again to all of the staff. Ernest was an amazing door man as well. To be honest there was a guest who I believe lives there named Mike who I did not get along with very well because of his obnoxious antics in and throughout the lobby while screaming on the phone. But I do want to emphasize just how greatly the staff treated us even through these matters. The restaurant that they have here named bourbon steak is also an amazing staple. Tony the bartender was absolutely hilarious and very knowledgeable about the city and the intertwined history of it and its drinks and sodas. What an enlightening and exciting night at the bar, even if you don’t drink alcohol. The concierge desk gave us 2 of the best recommendations for where to eat brunch and they didn’t miss. Overall such a friendly staff that truly cares.

I have stayed at almost every Marriott property in Manhattan. This one far exceeds them all. I spend nearly 225 nights a year in hotels. Typically, I am forfeiting one amenity for another. That is not the case at JW Essex. The stars I give this hotel should be Michelin. From the moment I hit the turnstile, every team member I encountered was consistently warm, welcoming and kind. I did not feel like a customer. I felt like a guest. This is true hospitality in the heart of Manhattan’s bustle. The location is perfect for that little bit of Central Park nature and convenient to accessing both east and west sides. Parking is ideally situated with 4 garage options all within a block. The subway also makes transportation seamless with its 57th and 7th location (just 2 blocks south). My room was meticulously clean and although I opted out of daily cleaning, housekeeping still took the time to check with me about towels and toiletries. This detail felt attentive and considerate. Good service meets expectations. Hospitality changes the way you feel. For the first time in years, I put my face on a hotel pillow and my nervous system didn’t notice that I wasn’t “HOME.” For this, I cannot compliment Essex enough. Thank you for providing an experience that allowed me to truly decompress and reset. After high-stress days at work- you made my evenings restorative. This allowed me to wake up the next day - clear headed, grounded, and ready to take on whatever came next. This review is written with deep gratitude. Thank you.

I want to personally recognize Shakeeb, the Front Desk Manager, for the exceptional service he provided to my wife and me during our stay. From the moment we arrived, Shakeeb went out of his way to make sure we were completely taken care of and satisfied. He was extremely polite, professional, and genuinely attentive. He patiently answered all of my questions, addressed every concern, and made us feel like valued guests — not just another reservation. It’s rare to find someone who truly takes pride in their work the way Shakeeb does. His positive attitude and willingness to accommodate us made a real difference in our experience.
